Etiquette for the Show Barn
· Stay out of the aisle when birds are being judged.
At most shows, the aisle is blocked with a rope or long board to stop traffic during judging, but I have actually seen people lift the rope or board to go into the aisle. The only people who should be in the aisle during judging are the judge and his/her clerk. If there is not anything cordoning off the aisle during judging, that doesn’t mean it is acceptable to enter.
· Do not talk to the judge or ask questions during judging.
The judge has a tough job and needs to focus on the task at hand. He or she is being paid to provide a service and cannot do that properly when interrupted. Questions should be held until the judge’s assignment is complete.
· Do not touch exhibitor’s bird unless he/she has given you permission to do so.
This is pretty self-explanatory, and it also applies to eggs. Do not take eggs from an exhibitor’s coop.
